I hope you had a lovely Christmas that and a wonderful and restful Christmas break! I am looking forward to school starting tomorrow on the 3rd of January. I will continue to send an email every week to keep you abreast of what is happening. One thing that may change for your student, is the color of their spelling word list. We took a new spelling survey and according to each student's results, new spelling groups have been formed. These groups challenge your student on their level. Keep practicing spelling words. I have been impressed with the progress that has been made this past semester.
We will continue to work on writing. We are now learning how to write a five paragraph opinion paper. This is awesome progress for 3rd graders.
I continue to be so happy with the progress that my Safari Scholars are making. These are all marvelous students.
I may start sending home math pages that can be used as review of what we learned during the day. These pages will not need to be returned, but used as supplemental material that allows you as parents to know what we are studying in class.
Thank you for the support you give to your student. These are important formative years. Filling out the reading calendar that is in their orange folder tells them that reading at home is crucial. You just need to initial each date that they read and how many minutes they spent reading that day at home. I do add these up at the end of each month and it is reflected in their literacy grade.
Check out the Help at Home Resources above. I have added some skip counting songs which are a great help to memorizing their times tables.
We have a wonderful class. I am so happy to be their teacher!
